Patricia Louise Holt-Edwards , known professionally as Patti LaBelle, is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and entrepreneur. LaBelle began her career in the early 1960s as lead singer and front woman of the vocal group, Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles. Following the group's name change to Labelle in the early 1970s, they released the iconic disco song "Lady Marmalade" and the group later became the first African-American vocal group to land the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
Marla Gibbs is an American actress, comedian, singer, writer and producer, whose career spans five decades. Gibbs is known for her role as George Jefferson's maid, Florence Johnston, in the CBS sitcom, The Jeffersons , for which she received five nominations for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She also starred in the show's spin-off Checking In and the NBC sitcom, 227 ; Gibbs co-produced the latter series, played the lead role of Mary Jenkins, and sang the theme song.
