Elwyn Brooks "E. B." White was an American writer and a world federalist. For more than fifty years, he was a contributor to The New Yorker magazine. He was also a co-author of the English language style guide The Elements of Style, which is commonly known as Strunk & White. In addition, he wrote books for children, including Stuart Little , Charlotte's Web , and The Trumpet of the Swan . In a 2012 survey of School Library Journal readers, Charlotte's Web was voted the top children's novel.
James Alfred "Alf" Wight, OBE, FRCVS , known by the pen name James Herriot, was a British veterinary surgeon and writer, who used his many years of experiences as a veterinary surgeon to write a series of books each consisting of stories about animals and their owners.
