He made his major league debut on June 8, 2010, as a member of the Miami Marlins, where he played through 2017. Known for his prodigious physical strength and ability to regularly hit long home runs, Stanton has twice led the National League in home runs, including hitting 59 in 2017, the most in 16 years. He managed the National League's Cincinnati Reds to the 1975 and 1976 championships, then added a third title in 1984 with the Detroit Tigers of the American League. He was named American League Manager of the Year in 1984 and 1987. Anderson was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000.
