Umberto Eco OMRI was an Italian novelist, literary critic, philosopher, semiotician, and university professor. He is best known internationally for his 1980 novel Il nome della rosa , a historical mystery combining semiotics in fiction with biblical analysis, medieval studies, and literary theory. He later wrote other novels, including Il pendolo di Foucault and L'isola del giorno prima . His novel Il cimitero di Praga , released in 2010, topped the bestseller charts in Italy.
Gael García Bernal is a Mexican film actor, director, model and producer. He and Diego Luna founded Canana Films in Mexico City. García Bernal is best known for his performances in the films Bad Education, The Motorcycle Diaries, Amores perros, Y Tu Mama Tambien and Babel, and for his role as Rodrigo de Souza in the Amazon Studios' web television series Mozart in the Jungle.
Daniel Christopher Gilroy is an American screenwriter and film director. He is best known for writing and directing Nightcrawler , for which he won Best Screenplay at the 30th Independent Spirit Awards, and was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 87th Academy Awards. Before becoming both a writer and director, Gilroy worked mostly as a screenwriter. His screenwriting credits include Freejack , Two for the Money , The Fall , Real Steel , and The Bourne Legacy —the last in collaboration with his brother Tony Gilroy. His wife, Rene Russo, has also been his frequent collaborator since the two met in 1992 and married later that year.
