John William Cheever was an American novelist and short story writer. He is sometimes called "the Chekhov of the suburbs". His fiction is mostly set in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the Westchester suburbs, old New England villages based on various South Shore towns around Quincy, Massachusetts, where he was born, and Italy, especially Rome. He is "now recognized as one of the most important short fiction writers of the 20th century." While Cheever is perhaps best remembered for his short stories , he also wrote four novels, comprising The Wapshot Chronicle ,The Wapshot Scandal , Bullet Park , Falconer and a novella Oh What a Paradise It Seems .
Mark Richard Hamill is an American stage, screen and voice actor. He is known for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars film series and for his voice-over work in animations and video games as the Joker, beginning with Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. Hamill has acted in several theater productions, notably The Elephant Man, and is the cowriter of The Black Pearl comic book miniseries.
John Ernst Steinbeck, Jr. was an American author. He won the 1962 Nobel Prize in Literature "for his realistic and imaginative writings, combining as they do sympathetic humour and keen social perception". He has been called "a giant of American letters", and many of his works are considered classics of Western literature.
